   INTRO

Welcome to the second round of minimalistic web-art competition <web4096>. Almost one year ago quite a successfull html-only web-art competition started. Net-artists mostly from eastern europe took part. Hopefully this time a greater number of artists throughout the world join the competition. A lot of people voted for opening other than just pure html cathegories. That's why we got 3 cathegories in the second round of <web4096>. Everyone can choose one to perform his best skills.

Why just 4096 bytes? <web4096> is inspired by the tradition of 4k intros which were very popular at demo scene. 4k intros are 4096 bytes long executable programs (demos) coded in assembler creating amazing visual effects that a common user whould never expect from 4096 bytes. 4096 limit inspired a lot of excellent coders to develop mind-blowing programs.

The question of bandwidth on the internet is still important. We think that competitions like this could show web developers the possibility to keep their pages much smaller than they are nowdays and inspire them to push their limits.
